Archive for January 2012

2012 lambs now arriving.

We now have a representative cross-section of lambs sired by Pay Day and Catalyst. We could not be more excited! Based on early evaluations the hip structure, design and power these lambs display exceeds our expectations! Our first Apex lamb has also been born–you will like this lamb!

The next two weeks will bring the majority of our lambs to the lambing jugs with lots of genetic combinations to evaluate. Watch our blog and website –we will keep you posted on some key lambs as they are born.

2011 American Royal

We congratulate Sara Johnson for showing the Lot 16 lamb from our 2011 Knop Online Club Lamb Sale to 3rd place honors in class 6 behind the Res. Grand Champion Overall (Res. Champion Hampshire). This lamb was sired by Wheaton 18, an Untouchable son, and damned by Knop 676, a daughter of Step Ahead (Knop).

Two photos of this lamb can be found on our champion page. This is the type of lamb we expect in 2012 out of our Wheaton and Impact rams back on our Knop linebred females and the Impact Hampshire females.

Full Update of Reference Sires

We have now completed a full update of many of the significant reference sires responsible for the genetic background of our flock. As you scroll through the various sires please note the impact of the linebred Mayer Hampshire genepool throughout most of our sires. Our flock is sometimes referred to as a “Suffolk” flock but in reality it is double linebred Mayer Hampshire and Crazy Horse Suffolk. It is our desire to combine the best of both the Hampshire and Suffolk worlds into a genetic entity that will breed true and perform consistently. Our 2012 lamb crop promises to document this effort.
